DIY: Succulent Bottle Stopper

Tuesday, March 24, 2015

Today I'm sharing a little DIY project I did last weekend.... A succulent bottle stopper!

Ok, so I know this is a SUPER easy, kinda no brainer DIY but the result is so cute and decorative, I couldn't resist this post.

I'm so big on succulents (and cactus, but those wouldn't be the nicest to work with, OUCH!) these days. I want to put them everywhere.... in my house, in my yard (hello California friendly), you name it, and I'm probably putting a succulent there :)

So I thought "How cute would one of these little succulents be on the top of a wine cork as a bottle stopper!?" And so began this little DIY.

What you'll need:

- Corks

- Faux Succulents ( I got mine from Hobby Lobby)

- Hot glue gun

- Bottle of wine (optional but delicious!)

+ Place a decent sized drop of glue on the top of the cork. You'll want to put the glue on the wider end of the cork so that the narrower end can be placed into the bottle.

+ Firmly press the succulent into the drop of glue until it is secure and dry.

+ Ta-Da!!! cute succulent bottle stoppers! (See, told ya it was easy!)

Booties (sold out), but love these!

Faux Fur Vest (old)

Hope you all had a wonderful St. Paddy's day!

St. Paddy's day is a very special holiday for my husband and I... It's the anniversary of our first date! Yes, we spent our first date wearing goofy green outfits and drinking green beer with shots of whiskey on the side (we were wild back then! haha). It was such a fun night that I will never forget :)

So of course, every St.Paddy's day we have to dress up in green and go celebrate the day that changed our lives forever (so dramatic, I know!) in the best way possible. Last night marked 6 years together, woohoo!!! We kept it pretty mellow, seeing as it was a Tuesday and we both had to work today, and walked down the street to a local Irish bar/restaurant. We enjoyed a beer and some traditional Irish food. Evan got the fish and chips and I opted for the Shepard's pie, YUM!

Romp in the Fields

I LOVE rompers, I really do! But they don't always love me back :(

Being taller than average, I have a really hard time finding rompers that I can actually wear. Most of the time they are too short in the torso, giving me a nice wedge look... front and back, not a good look!

But then, if they do fit right thru the torso, then they are super shorty short. AND rompers tend to make legs look longer, which just make my already mile long legs extra extra long, like freakishly long.

The struggle is real guys... I shop and shop for perfect fitting rompers (cause I obvi can't quite the search!) and rarely do I leave with one in hand.

But then, along came Nordstrom.....Specifically the Savvy department, my fav! I tried on this stunner, with fingers crossed that it would fit and not make me look all crazy. Sure enough, it fit!!! And I love love love it. I love the balance of the short shorts and the long sleeves. Too much skin is not so sexy, in my opinion.

I will definitely have this piece on repeat this spring/summer..... with flats, heels, a cute belt, even my cowboy boots for stagecoach!

What are your guys thoughts on rompers? Have you found any that you love?

Overalls

Overalls // Lace top // Hat (similar here) // Booties

With all the rain here this weekend, I thought I would throw it back to when the hubby and drove out to Temecula to go wine tasting for a quick overnight adventure. The weather was so amazing. We couldn't resist a drive with the top down (we drove my cute little convertible) and the wind in our hair!

These overalls were a perfect casual day pick.... fun and comfy (if you haven't figured it out, I'm a BIG fan of comfy!). I paired it with a strapless lace top and some super cute tan booties. Topping it all off with a panama hat to shade my face from the harmful sun. No one wants a leather face, right!? Big sunnies and a hat are a must for me when out in the sun.
