Wedding Beauty: Hair

Monday, January 28, 2013

Following up my earlier post about my wedding day make-up inspiration, here is some hair inspiration!

Again, I want my hair to look natural and "like me".
Although up-do's can look great on some people, I'm not a huge fan of that for myself on my big day. I wear my hair down and loose curls most days, so that seems to be the style I'm leaning towards. Plus, not giving away too much detail, I have a gorgeous headpiece to wear in my hair for the wedding.

Here is some of the inspiration I've found for hair.

Long and curly with volume on top.

Love, love, love these wavy curls!

Awesome headpiece placement!

Maybe pull half back??

Please feel free to share any ideas you may have for wedding day hair!

K

Wedding Beauty: Make-up

With our wedding just 4 months away, I am starting to seriously look into some makeup and hair inspiration. I have found so many gorgeous looks on Pinterest, it's been really helpful!

I want to keep my makeup similar to my everyday style but with a little more GLAM since, after all, it is my wedding day and the photos will last a lifetime! I want to still look like myself when I look back at all the pictures. I am very lucky to have one of my best friends and bridesmaid, Alexis, helping me get dolled up on the big day. She is such an amazingly talented makeup artist and hair stylist. I know she will do a stunning job making sure I look my best!

Here are some of the inspiration pics I've pulled.

Soft and Sweet!

Victoria's Secret glam!

Gorgeous and simple

What do you guys think?
Let me know if you have any thoughts or suggestions!

Hot Color: Cobalt

Hot Color Alert: COBALT!
It's gorgeous, vibrant and the ways to wear it are endless, whether you want to make a big statement or just a small splash of color.

Stand out in any crowd with a cobalt dress. You are sure to get noticed with this stand out color!

If you are looking for a more subtle burst of color, try pairing any outfit with a cute pair of cobalt pumps.

Throw on a cobalt blouse with a pair of jeans for an effortless look.

Try it out in your own way and see how you like this beautifully rich color trend!

Meatloaf Cupcakes

Friday, January 18, 2013

I really enjoy some good old fashion meatloaf dinner. I got this recipe from an old co-worker and it is so delicious! It is the perfect individual portion plus every bite has that yummy crispy edge!
Tasty and easy!

Ingredients:

  • 2 lb ground beef
  • 3 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 1/2 cups bread crumbs, plain
  • about 10 or so shakes of Worcestershire sauce
  • 4-5 oz tomato paste
  • 1 cup chopped onion & garlic
  • a couple shakes garlic powder
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • ketchup

Preheat oven to 350 degrees
In a large bowl, combine meat, eggs, bread crumbs, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, onion, garlic powder, salt & pepper
Mix well (I used my hands for this part. It's the easiest method for mixing in this case)
Spray muffin tins with nonstick cooking spray or olive oil
Divide meat mixture evenly among tins (you can fill them over the top & round it off since they won’t rise)
Spread a light coating of ketchup on each mound

Cover with tin foil & bake for about 30 minutes
Uncover & bake for another 20 minutes or so (or until meat is fully cooked)
Mashed potatoes:
Peel potatoes and chop into quarters.
Place chopped pieces into a pot with water.
Bring to boil and lightly salt.
Cook until potatoes are tender when pierced with a knife or fork.
Drain and transfer into the bowl of an electric mixer. (You can do this part with a potatoes masher as well.)
Add some warm milk and butter.
Mix. Add salt to taste.
I served the potatoes and meatloaf with peas in a light butter sauce and a salad with my Homemade French Vinaigrette  to complete the meal.

Thanks Emily for this awesome recipe :)
ENJOY!

Holiday: Part 2

Wednesday, January 16, 2013

For the second half of our holiday vacation, we were lucky enough to jet off to beautiful Maui! Our friends invited to go stay with them in their awesome family condo, along with another couple. (Thanks Chris and Jess!!!)
 It was a BLAST!
The weather was a little funky, but we made the best of it and stuck it out till we got some sun at the end of week. We snorkeled, cliff jumped, eat some amazing food, and had lots of yummy drinks! We even got to see some massive sea turtles up close, which was so cool!

YUM! Mai Tai's are so delicious!

Ashley and I cliff jumping with the GoPro! There are some really cool video clips from the trip.

Just another Maui sunset with the love of my life!

Sunset dinner #1 at Kimo's. Amazing food and stunning sunset view!

Sunset dinner #2 at Kimo's. It was so good we had to go back for another night!

The boys went snorkeling with the turtles. How awesome is this shot they got!?

More cliff jumping off Black Rock with my love! And, yes, I'm the nerd who plugs my nose the second I jumped, haha.

The sun finally came out giving us a gorgeous, clear view!

It was an amazing trip filled with great memories and tons of laughs with some really awesome friends. We are very lucky to have such wonderful people in our lives and that we are able to do all the fun things we have been able to do.

Can't wait to get back to Maui for more fun!

I'm back!!!!!

Tuesday, January 15, 2013

Hey all, sorry for the lack of posts lately. Life has been pretty crazy, but I'm back and ready to start posting again. Bare with me on some of the pictures..... My purse was stolen the week before Christmas and my camera was, of course, in the purse.
Anyways, I hope you all had a wonderful holiday! I had an amazing holiday filled with LOTS of family time and fun. My fiancé and I went back to his home in Seattle this year for Christmas. It was very cold but so much fun seeing everyone.

My awesome future in-laws!

It's official! I got my very own stocking in Seattle! :) So happy!!!!

We got in some good quality time with Grandma Vi!

My awesome future mother-in-law and her sister threw me the most beautiful bridal shower for all the family and friends up there in Seattle. I was very excited to see everyone and felt very honored that so many people came to celebrate this amazing time with me! It was extra fun having my mom fly out for the shower too!!
Stay tuned for a follow up post all about the shower.

My dad and step-mom also made it up to Seattle to visit while we were up there. They were on their way to Idaho for the New Year and decided to make a pit stop in Seattle along the way for a few days. It was so much fun taking them out to see all the incredible things in that city!

The Space Needle

My dad and step-mom Paula at the top of the Space Needle

Me, Evan, and his mom Barb at the top of the Space Needle.... It was FREEZING up there!!

Next up on our trip was a weekend getaway to Evan's family's cabin up at Mt. Baker. Sadly, I got a really bad cold and couldn't go out on the mountain and snowboard. So I stayed at the cabin with my future sister-in-law and hung out while the boys hit the slopes.

Then, after New Years, it was off to Hawaii for a week of sun with some friends!
Part 2 of our holiday vacation coming soon!
