Chocolate Kahlua Cake

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

I got the sudden urge to bake  recently and decided to pull out an old recipe that I used to make, delicious chocolate kahlua cake! (You'd never know I had a wedding dress to fit into in 2 months with that one huh!?)
It rich and moist even after a couple days. Yum, yum, yum!

**Something to keep in mind- This cake takes a long time to cook so you may want to start this before dinner so there is plenty of time to cook and cool completely**

Ingredients:

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 1 box instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup kahlua
  • Chocolate chips, as much as you desire!
Kahlua Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • about 4 tablespoons (you can use more depending on what consistency you want) kahlua

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix the first 6 ingredients together, leaving out the chocolate chips.

Once well mixed, fold in chocolate chips. You can use as little or as many chocolate chips you want, it's totally up to YOU!

Pour batter into a greased bundt pan.
Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
Cool in pan or 10 minutes.
Flip it over and place on cooling rack to cool completely.

Mix together ingredients for glaze.

Pour glaze over cake. You can either cut individual slices and glaze OR glaze the whole thing, then slice, your choice! In my case, I sliced then glazed.

I personally LOVE this cake a bit warm so I heated slices in the microwave for a few seconds before putting glaze on and serving.

Enjoy!

XO,
K

  1. This is my husband's favorite cake. I do not use glaze as the cake is plenty sweet already. After cooling completely, I just sift some powdered sugar over the cake.

  2. My friend uses yellow cake mix instead with the choc pudding
