DIY: Coasters

Thursday, April 16, 2015

This DIY I'm sharing today is super fun and super easy!

I have been on a serious indigo kick these days. I love the way it contrasts so dramatically with white for a fun pop of color.

So grab a cold one and enjoy!

DIY: Succulent Bottle Stopper

Tuesday, March 24, 2015

Today I'm sharing a little DIY project I did last weekend.... A succulent bottle stopper!

Ok, so I know this is a SUPER easy, kinda no brainer DIY but the result is so cute and decorative, I couldn't resist this post.

I'm so big on succulents (and cactus, but those wouldn't be the nicest to work with, OUCH!) these days. I want to put them everywhere.... in my house, in my yard (hello California friendly), you name it, and I'm probably putting a succulent there :)

So I thought "How cute would one of these little succulents be on the top of a wine cork as a bottle stopper!?" And so began this little DIY.

What you'll need:

- Corks

- Faux Succulents ( I got mine from Hobby Lobby)

- Hot glue gun

- Bottle of wine (optional but delicious!)

+ Place a decent sized drop of glue on the top of the cork. You'll want to put the glue on the wider end of the cork so that the narrower end can be placed into the bottle.

+ Firmly press the succulent into the drop of glue until it is secure and dry.

+ Ta-Da!!! cute succulent bottle stoppers! (See, told ya it was easy!)

The Freebird x O'Neill: DIY Belly Chain Belt

Friday, April 18, 2014

Hey babez!

I'm excited to share another Guest Blogger post I did for O'Neill.... The DIY Belly Chain Belt!

As you probably already know I LOVE a good DIY....jewerly, home decor, fashion.... you name it and I want to try making it!

So when I found myself lusting after all these amazing boho belts while finding Coachella fashion inspo, I thought, WTH, I can totally make a version of those belts. And so began my mission to craft a boho chic belt for layering.

With all the amazing statement necklaces out there right now, finding the materials was easy peasy! I just had to make a trip to Forever 21 and pick out a few of my fav necklaces to use.

The outcome!? A boho chic layering belt at a fraction of the cost!

Love!

For the full DIY details, head over to the O'Neill girls blog.

How will you rock this look???

Leave a comment below & post pics of your belly chain belt on social media and tag @oneillwomens and #TheFreeBirdforONeill

Picture Wall

Monday, March 10, 2014

Hey there!

Tonight's post is a peak into my new guest room design.... as you can probably tell by now, I LOVE to decorate and re-decorate my house.... like, its a problem! :)

I decided to re-do the guest room in a super neutral color palette with a whole wall of pictures. The colors? Black, gold and white white white! I reused some frames that we did for our wedding that were painted gold and then found other cheap frames at Ikea... I used all different sizes and then painted all of them in the 3 colors. Then I gathered a bunch of pictures, some from the Internet that struck me, some I handmade, and a few detail shots from my wedding. After placing all the art in the frames, it was just a puzzle, figuring out where each pic should go. I used a large round art piece that my grandma gave me (how AH-MAZE is this piece!? I die...) as the centerpiece and filled in the others around it.

And that's it.... TA-DA, brand new room!

What do you guys think!?

Kissable Lips

Friday, February 7, 2014

Alright, so I'm just going to say it, I have terrible lips! Not terrible as in thin or weird or anything.... Terrible as in they are so dry, cracked and flaky. Boo! Because of that, lip scrubs are my best friend.

Here is a recipe for a simple homemade lip scrub that I love. I probably use it at least once a week if not more. Plus the ingredients are so easy, you probably already have them in your kitchen. Love that, right!?

Here's what you do:

+ 1tbs brown sugar
+ 1tbs olive oil
+ 1/2 tsp honey

Mix all ingredients together is a small container. Scrub mixture onto lips gently. Rinse and apply a generous layer of your fav lip balm. Simple as that and you have soft, totally kissable lips! Now get out there and smooch away ;)

DIY: Bar Stool Makeover

Thursday, January 23, 2014

Ok, so I'm super excited about this project I just completed for our house. I've really been trying to lighten up our whole house, starting with the living room. ... And I've never really liked these boring old bar stools we had, they are just so BLAH. So I thought, "There has to be some kind of DIY project I can do with these to spruce them up and make them more attractive". Here's what I came up with.

I started with the basic bar stools, unscrewing the cushions from the metal base.

Next, I did 2 coats for white primer.

Once the primer layers were dry, I coated it in a gold "hammered" look spray paint. Again, I did several layers to make sure it was evenly coated and covered.

For the cushions, I bought a Faux Sheepskin Rug from Ikea ($9.99.... can't beat that price!!) that I cut in half and wrapped around each cushion. To secure it, I used a staple gun to staple the fabric to the underside, cutting away any extra fabric. Then I simply screwed them back on to the base and.......

TA-DA!!! A brand new look for a boring old stool.
Not so boring anymore, huh!?

I'm so stoked on how they turned out and even better, how easy and cheap it was to do!

K
